Gas Supply to Parts of Karachi Suspended Tonight from 10pm to 9am as SSGC Repairs Shershah Mainline

Karachi: If you live in Baldia or Orangi, cook dinner early tonight. The Sui Southern Gas Company has announced a Karachi gas shutdown for repair work on its 24-inch mainline at Shershah, with supply suspended from 10pm on Saturday to 9am on Sunday — an 11-hour window.
Where the pressure may drop
SSGC says the shutdown has deliberately been scheduled inside the hours when domestic supply is normally suspended anyway. The catch is the overrun: if the repair work runs past 9am, low pressure complaints are likely across a long list of neighbourhoods. In Baldia Town, that means Ittehad Town, Saeedabad, Naval Colony, Musharraf Colony and Mawach Goth. In and around Orangi Town, Gulshan-e-Bahar, Gulshan-e-Zia, Sector 16, Ghaziabad, Altaf Nagar, Mehran City and Ramzan Goth are on the list, along with the SITE Industrial Area.
The utility has apologised to consumers for the inconvenience. For households, the practical advice is simple — get tonight’s cooking and the morning tea sorted before the shutdown begins, because the only real disruption arrives if the work slips beyond its Sunday morning deadline.
