Karachi Court Issues Non-Bailable Arrest Warrants for Dania Shah in the Aamir Liaquat Video Case, Hearing Set for October 28

KARACHI: The Dania Shah warrant took a harder turn on Monday. A judicial magistrate in Karachi’s East district issued non-bailable arrest warrants for her and told police to arrest her and bring her before the court at the next hearing. The case concerns the alleged circulation of private videos of the late television host Dr Aamir Liaquat Hussain.
Exemption plea turned down
Her lawyer told the court she could not appear because she was ill, and asked for an exemption from personal appearance. Counsel for the complainant opposed the request, and the court rejected it. The magistrate made his displeasure at her absence plain, and the message from the bench was simple enough: she is to be produced, not excused.
Where the case began
The complaint was filed by Aamir Liaquat Hussain’s daughter under Pakistan’s cybercrime laws, accusing Dania Shah of involvement in circulating her late father’s videos. The court has adjourned the hearing until October 28. Nothing in Monday’s order decides the case itself — it remains under trial, no verdict has been announced, and the warrants exist for one purpose only: to make sure the accused is standing in court when it resumes.
