Lahore’s music fans got a Thursday surprise — international DJ Alan Walker turned up in the city out of nowhere and sat down with Pakistani singers Hamza Malik and Zain Zohaib. Walker shared glimpses of the meeting on his Instagram stories, and the news spread across social media within hours.
What was in the clip?
In the clip Walker shared, he is standing outside Alamgiri Gate — the western entrance to Lahore Fort, built in the reign of Mughal Emperor Aurangzeb — with the Pakistani romantic song Alfaaz playing in the background. In his hands is a mysterious wooden box carrying his signature logo. Another picture shows Walker posing with the two Pakistani musicians and other members of the team.
The ‘Alfaaz 2.0’ talk
A historic location, a mysterious box and Alfaaz on the soundtrack — the combination has fans asking whether Walker is preparing a new version of Pakistan’s viral musical sensation. Alfaaz won international popularity and even made it onto Spotify’s Top 50 Global chart. Neither Walker nor the Pakistani artists have officially confirmed the title, a release date or the nature of any new project — quite possibly to keep the suspense going.
Who is Alan Walker?
Walker is known around the world for electronic hits such as Faded and Alone, and he has built a massive international following. A collaboration with Hamza Malik and Zain Zohaib would be an intriguing crossover between the global electronic scene and Pakistan’s music industry.
