NCA Lahore Holds Pinktober Session Stressing Early Detection of Breast Cancer

Lahore: The National College of Arts turned its attention from canvas to clinic for a day, holding a Pinktober awareness session with Pink Ribbon Pakistan that put breast cancer, early detection and healthier daily habits in front of its students and staff.
A full house at the Shakir Ali Auditorium
The session, held at the college’s Shakir Ali Auditorium, drew faculty, staff and students. The point of taking the message to a campus, organisers said, is that awareness is the first step: a woman who knows what to look for is far more likely to seek a check-up in time. NCA and Pink Ribbon Pakistan closed the session by reaffirming a shared commitment to keep spreading that awareness and to encourage people to take proactive steps for their own health.
One stop in a month-long campaign
The sitting was part of Pink Ribbon’s countrywide Pinktober drive, which this month runs from university halls to cricket grounds. The organisation’s founder and honorary chief executive, Omer Aftab, has been making the same argument at every stop: early detection saves lives, and no woman should lose her chance of survival simply because she cannot afford treatment. Doctors repeat the underlying fact at each event — breast cancer caught in its early stages is largely treatable, which is why regular self-examination and a prompt visit to a doctor at the first sign of anything unusual matter so much.
