Celebrities Demand Justice for Waseem Abbas, the 15-Year-Old Multan Orphan Allegedly Run Over by His Employer

MULTAN: The killing of a 15-year-old orphan has shaken the country, and Pakistan’s showbiz figures are now adding their voices to the call for justice for Waseem. Waseem Abbas came from Muzaffargarh and, after his father’s death, had lived for years at the Dar-ul-Khuda orphanage in Multan. About a week before his death he was handed over to a contractor, Tauqeer, to learn electrical work. Police say that after being mistreated at the workplace, the boy fled — and that Tauqeer and an accomplice, Amjad, chased him in a car for about a kilometre and ran him over. He died at the scene.
Grief and anger from the entertainment world
Actress and host Mishi Khan wrote on Instagram: “Allah ke qehr se darien sab zalim log” — let all cruel people fear the wrath of God. Yumna Zaidi shared her reaction on Instagram Stories, actress Faiza Khan called for justice and for those responsible to be held accountable, and actor Faizan Sheikh questioned the state of law and order in the country. PML-N leader Khawaja Saad Rafique asked why Waseem was given no immediate medical help after being hit, and demanded an audit of orphanages that send children out to workplaces to learn trades.
Suspect on remand, the hunt for the second man goes on
Police have registered FIR No. 990/2026 under sections 302 and 34 of the Pakistan Penal Code. Tauqeer is under arrest and the car has been seized; on Tuesday a court handed him over to police on four days’ physical remand. Raids are under way in Faisalabad to arrest Amjad. Punjab Information Minister Azma Bukhari says Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz is personally monitoring the case, and that women and children are her “red line”.
The questions now reach the orphanage too
Waseem has been buried in his ancestral graveyard in Daulatpur village, Muzaffargarh. Police are also investigating the circumstances in which the orphanage sent a 15-year-old out to work with the contractor. It is that question which lifts this case beyond one man’s alleged crime — into how well the children who live on institutions’ support are protected at all.
