Momina Riasat Takes Four Wickets for One Run and Fatima Sana Hits an Unbeaten 73 as Stars and Strikers Win in the National Women’s T20
Wednesday at the National Women’s T20 Tournament in Faisalabad belonged to two performances that look startling even on a scorecard. Left-arm spinner Momina Riasat took four wickets for a single run, and Stars beat Invincibles by 48 runs because of it.
Stars had made 110 for nine batting first. Samina Aftab top-scored with 38, Sadaf Shamas added 28 and Manahil Rafiq 26. Anosha Nasir kept Invincibles in the game with four wickets of her own. The chase never got going, though. Invincibles were bowled out for 62, Momina finishing with three overs, two maidens, one run and four wickets — player of the match, inevitably — while Diana Baig picked up two for 15.
Fatima’s turn
In the second match, Strikers beat Conquerors by 57 runs. Captain Fatima Sana stayed unbeaten on 73 from 48 balls, with nine fours and three sixes. Huraina Sajjad made 30 and Najiha Alvi 26 as Strikers reached 160 for eight, Humna Bilal taking three wickets.
Chasing 161, Conquerors were dismissed for 103 in 19.5 overs. Syeda Masooma Zahra did the damage with four for 18, and Noreen Yaqoob’s 25 was the best a Conquerors batter could manage. The tournament final is set for October 25 at Iqbal Stadium in Faisalabad, with Rs1.5 million going to the winners — on Wednesday’s evidence, both Momina and Fatima will fancy being there.
