Pakistan, Turkiye, Qatar and Indonesia to Sign Defence Industry Cooperation Memorandum in Doha

News Cuff

Four countries are about to put their defence industry ties on paper. Pakistan, Turkiye, Qatar and Indonesia are expected to sign a memorandum of understanding on defence industry cooperation in Doha on Wednesday, bringing their work on weapons and military equipment under one shared framework.

Turkiye’s defence minister heads to Doha

Turkiye’s Defence Minister Yasar Guler set off for Qatar on Tuesday afternoon for the signing, Anadolu Agency reported, citing officials. Turkiye’s Defence Industry Agency said the memorandum builds on projects already under way: Bayraktar TB2 drones and armoured vehicles supplied to Qatar, corvettes being built for Pakistan’s navy in Istanbul and Karachi, and the Kaplan MT medium tank developed jointly with Indonesia. The agency put Turkish defence and aerospace exports at more than $10 billion in 2025.

Qatar’s own production push

The signing lands just as Qatar prepares to expand its own defence production. Sheikh Saoud bin Abdulrahman Al Thani, Qatar’s minister of state for defence affairs, told the Global Security Forum in Doha on Monday that a local defence production hub would be announced soon, and that new partnerships against ballistic missiles, drones and cyberattacks were being explored. The memorandum’s detailed terms, projects and financial size have not yet been disclosed.
