Ammy Virk Gives a Song to Rajab Butt’s Debut Film, YouTuber Reveals

Lahore: Rajab Butt’s move from YouTube to the big screen has picked up a musical headline. Speaking on a recent podcast, the content creator revealed that Indian Punjabi singer and actor Ammy Virk has given a song for his first film. He stopped short of sharing the track’s title or any further detail.

Two more songs from Pakistan

According to Rajab, the soundtrack will also carry two songs from Pakistan, though those artists have not been named either. The film is an action-comedy directed by Syed Faisal Bukhari and written by Sarmad Ibrahim, with actress Amar Khan in the female lead. Shooting is under way in Punjab, and the first schedule has already wrapped in Chiniot.

Criticism, and a defence

Rajab’s arrival in cinema has drawn a mixed response online. His appeal to fans to save Rs2,000 for a ticket and popcorn was mocked in some quarters, but actor and producer Hareem Farooq recently spoke up for him, saying that making a film is difficult but far from impossible, and that newcomers should be encouraged rather than trolled.

With more than nine million YouTube subscribers behind him, Rajab is betting that the audience which watches his family vlogs will follow him into cinemas. No release date for the film has been announced yet.
