Pakistan Warns Afghan Taliban of Consequences as Ishaq Dar Says Inaction Against Terror Groups Operating From Afghan Soil Will Cost Kabul

ISLAMABAD: Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar has warned the Afghan Taliban government in clear terms that if effective action is not taken against terrorist groups operating from Afghan soil against Pakistan, Kabul will one day have to face the consequences itself. He was addressing an international conference in Islamabad on Pakistan’s evolving terrorism landscape.

TTP the biggest threat

Dar said terrorism is the biggest challenge for the region and the world, and that the banned Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan is a serious threat to the country’s security. According to him, attacks planned across the border have increased in recent months, while operations against terrorists are being conducted daily on the instructions of Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir. He also cited the Jaffar Express incident and the killings of workers in Balochistan among the challenges facing the country.

September attacks highest in 12 years

Data presented at the conference showed 225 militant attacks were recorded across the country in September 2026, up 13 percent from 199 in August, the highest monthly figure in 12 years, with attacks rising for a third consecutive month. Dar said Pakistan has sacrificed more than 90,000 lives in the war against terrorism and the international community should acknowledge those losses.

Call for world pressure on Kabul

The deputy prime minister urged partner countries to press the Afghan authorities to fulfil their commitments and take concrete, verifiable and irreversible action against the TTP and all other terrorist groups, so that Afghan soil is not used against Pakistan or any other country. He also accused India of sponsoring groups operating from Afghan soil, and said safe havens that threaten Pakistan today could threaten other countries tomorrow.
